I have added a Dynojet stage 7 kit with the tubes, Megacycle .375 cams, ported and polished heads,Dale Walker 4-1 exhaust, and a new clutch with dual stock springs. I have also opened up the air scoops to help feed cool air. I have also removed anything I could to reduce weight, with out affecting the appearance of the bike. I love the bike and this combination of parts works awesome with no hesitations or bogs from idle to 10500 rpm's. Thanks for a Maxxedout web site. |

I was amazed how much of a difference it made on the freeway at 70mph!!! In fact I had looked at several on the internet and I didn't want to pay the $110 for the one from Yamaha (with the wings and the little logo on the front)so I'm just happy this one works well even thought it wasn't made for the bike. I am interested in finding a backrest and luggage rack for my new bike and would love to find one under $400.00 if there is anybody who has one for this bike I want to get one for my wife who says she fells like she's sliding off the back of this thing. |

Website: Referred by: From: Denmark Time: 1999-07-06 22:56:05 Comments: I dont't drive a Vmax.... Yet. In Denmark a new Vmax cost £15,000.00 (Dkk 170,000.00), and that's a lot of money for a toy. Unfortunately i fell in love in the Vmax for 3 years ago and i just want one. There are not so many Vmax in Denmark to choose from, but for instance a '85 in normal condition cost approx. £10,000.00, so you can see they just never get cheap. Most of the price on a new Vmax is excise tax, approx. 65%. If i import a Vmax, and want to use it on the street (of course i want to), i also have to pay approx. 65% of the street value of the bike in excise tax, that means approx. £6,500.00. That's why, believe it or not, i am looking for an '85 Vmax in bad condition, whitch has driven a lot of miles. The more miles and the worth condition, the lower excise tax i have to pay. Crazy..... i no!!!! After i have payed excise tax, i can start rebuilt the bike (I'm a lorry mechanic). Maybe it's worth also importing a newer Vmax to rebuilt from (if i don't registrate it, i don't have to pay excise tax). So if you know of any old "worn out" Vmax, that looks like a wreck, i'm interested (not all Danes are as stupid as me). If you too know about a newer Vmax, maybe whith a defeckt that makes the price right, i might be interested in that one too. If you can help me, please e-mail me chr.trab@get2net.dk Othervise i would just like to say thank you for a wonderful home page! |

Sold the VFR, almost caused a devorce with the wife, raided the saveings...you know the score... Its a excellent condition 89er, full power from the US in apple red, looks great and goes even better than it looks. Cant see what the problem is with handeling for the type of bike it is, being an old fogie, I dont lean too far anyway! If God rode a motorbike, it would have to be a MAX!!! |

I bought the bike to resale, but I believe I've been smitten. I used to think they were ugly, but after having ridden mine, I now think they're beautiful. Being used to riding Superbikes, I used to think that the Vmax handled terrible. After riding mine for a while ,"WHO CARES?" There's something about this bike that's beyond form or function. I think it's called "Character". I'm really glad to see such a following of the Vmax. I'm sure I'll be looking for parts and advice in the future. |

And im having problems choising between a gsx1100r and a vmax. Almost all my friends drive sportbikes like fzr1000 and ninjas, so my fear is to be left behinde on our roadtripps as soon as the road starts turning, or when we hitt the freeway. They drive realy f*****g fast, and i have heard that the vmax only has a toppspeed of 150mph and handles like a bag of shit. In the who´s first att the redlights and the cool looks department the vmax holds all the cards so what shall i buy? -Can someone please end my sleepless nights? |

Comments: I HAV A YELLOW 94 MAX. THIS HAS GONE THREW MANY CHANGES
THREW THE YEARS. I STARTED SLOW BUT THE VMAX FLU GOT WORSE THE LONGER I OWN HER.
STARTING WITH JUST YOUR TIPACAL DRAG BARS AND MOTOR GARDS. EVERY ONE THAT KNOWS
ME THIS WOULD NEVER BE ENUF. THIS THING I CALL THE VMAX FLU CAME WITH A HIGH
TEMPTURE FOR SPEED. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS CURED BY ADDING ON A NOS SYSTEM,
JETING, AND A 4 INTO 1 KERKER PIPE. BUT SENCE I WILL ALWAS HAVE THE FLU MY
BALANCE WAS EFECTHED, SO I LOWERED THE FRUNT END AN ADDED A STABLIZER. THE
LOWERING WAS DONE BY USING CLIP ON BARS. BY THE WAY I MUST MENTION THAT MY EYES
WERE ALSO EFECTED. THEY SEEMED TO THINK THING WERE TO LARGE AND NOT SLEEK. SO I
CONSLTED MY DOC. "DOCTOR GUMBY HEINTZ" HE HAD THE CURE WE STARTE BY
REMOVEING THE BRAKE AND TURN LIGHTS. HIS TRICK WAS TO TUCK THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT
INTO THE FENDER "DAM WHAT A PHD IN STYLE WILL DO." THIS IS ONLY ONE OF
THREE CURES I WAS GIVEN. NEXT HE TOOK THE FRUNT TURNING LIGHTS AND INSTALED THEM
BEHIND THE SCOOP GRILLS. LAST CURE WAS THE SLEEK CUSTUM TURNED MOUNTS FOR THE
MINI REAR TURN SIGNALES. WITH THESE LIGHTING MODS COME A DALE WALKER CHIN SCOOP
AND BRAKE RESOVOR COVERS. THEY WERE PANTED TO MATCH FENDERS. THE BRAKE BOXES AND
THE SPEDOMEATER WAS ALSO PANTIED TO MACH. OPPS I ALMOST FORGOT THAT SORE REAR
END THAT WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THA VMAX FLU. KNOWING THAT A PROCTOLGEST COULDNT
HELP, "JOHN FUBUR" WAS CALLED IN TO HELP. WITH THE MASSIVE KNOWLAGE
THAT JOHN HAS ON THE MAX. HE CAME UP WITH THE SLEEK AND SOFT SPORT MAX SEAT "
DAM HE IS GOOD." WITH ALL THE BS ASIDE I HOPE THIS WILL CONTROLE MY VMAX
FLU BY THE WAY IF YOU LIVE ANY WHER I AND SOME VMAX FRIENDS WILL BE TRAVLING TO
COLORADO IN JULY AND WOULD BE WILLING TO STOP BY OR HAVE YOU RIDE A FEW MIELES
WITH US

Comments: Great Site.
I'm on my second max now. I got a 97' bought it new in may. I've hated the
color ever since I saw it. I am a chrome and polish nut. If it don't shine it
aint mine! So I first bought all available yamaha access then I ordered cobra
blvd slip on pipes. Boy they are nice and sound great. Next I added a carb kit.
Then I decided the black wheels had to go plus the black front shockes. All that
is highly polished now. Looks like chrome. Then it was time to get rid of that
dull silver color. We added a tri coat ford red red ppg paint with the new 7
colors metal flake. Painted the bottom have of the side covers an the bottom
have of the scoops plus painted the yamaha in the scoops. What a different bike.
I have pictures and would like to know how to get them on your site. Please
advise. Next will be powder coating the brake calip. What a summer it will be.

it even if my budget is low. If only prices in France were not so high! I'm
often looking for used parts, but it's hard to find when like me you don't know

Comments: I have a dead stock 1988 and it runs just fine for me.
Last year I had to replace all of the carb diaphragms and I had to re-wire the
boost sensor because the factory mis-wired it. My last name is of course German
but "Ich bin stolz ein Gottscheer zu sein" auf Slovenia (Yugoslavia).
I really don't speak or read German (just a little) but I wanted you to know I
am not a spoiler or destroyer. I also have 2 Honda CBX's, one 1979 and one 1982.
I am in the process of rebuilding the engine on the '79 ( lots of $ for parts).
I found your page from a link on the "VMOA" page. Thanks for all the
wonderful pictures and info. CARL

Comments: Yes, at this point I have no modifications, other than
the suspect repairs done on my bike after the first fall (4500km). I need some
help in sourcing a supplier of parts (forks, stantions(sp?), etc..bad right hand
side damage) to south africa. My dealer is a "grey import" disaster
and the time I have waited has turned from frustration to anger to .... dare I
say it .... hoplessness. I don't know if this is the correct forum for a request
of this sort, however having seen your site you can be assured that I will be a

16. I got my motorcycle license before my car license, and have had a couple of
years between then and now during which I had no car, just a bike. I have lusted
over the Vmax since I first saw one in 1988. I love the lines, the styling, and
the POWER. In my mind, it is the ultimate motorcycle. Now that I am making
pretty good money, I plan to find a used one to call my own.

computer art Ingo. While I have been in Japan, the last 2 1/2 years I have been
riding a Honda Transalp 400, because it was hard for me to get an over 400cc
licence when I arrived. The last trip we (the Honda and I) made was from Osaka

for 97. Now it is time to leave Japan, and head on back to the US (we were there
from 91 to 94) and the question was what to do with the Transalp? After looking
at many bikes (they're fairly cheap here in Japan) I decided th
