IT HAS A KERKER PIPE AND A REMOVABLE WINDSCREEN. IN THE FUTURE I WOULD LIKE TO ADD A STEERING DAMPER, OTHER THAN THAT I CAN THINK OF NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS I WOULD CARE TO MAKE. MY GOOD FRIEND JOHN,WHO IS A FELLOW MAX OWNER(85),IS CURRENTLY PLANNING A 3-WHEELED MAX. THIS IS TO BE A TRIKE AND NOT A SIDE CAR. DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO OWNS ONE? THANKS

Comments: 1986 Vmax (and a 1998 ZX6R Ninja) almost all stock. I have Cobra pipes but can't use them because they are too noisy and set off all the car alarms in my office car park. Anybody want info on the Philippines or Hong Kong (I lived in HK for 23 years) let me know. Anyone know of some hard paniers and top box to fit a Vmax? Regards to all bikers. Frank

Comments: I drive an '85 V-Max. It is painted '95 Corvette blue with custom polishing and paint on the scoops. I have added a Dynojet stage 7 kit with the tubes, Megacycle .375 cams, ported and polished heads,Dale Walker 4-1 exhaust, and a new clutch with dual stock springs. I have also opened up the air scoops to help feed cool air. I have also removed anything I could to reduce weight, with out affecting the appearance of the bike. I love the bike and this combination of parts works awesome with no hesitations or bogs from idle to 10500 rpm's. Thanks for a Maxxedout web site.

Your a lucky man, Ingo,

Beautiful wife and children, and friends that would actually start a fund to get you a motorcycle. You are truly a rich man.

My husband and I are motorcycle enthusiasts. No V-Maxes but we we stay on two wheels. His is a 96 Shadow ACE and mine is a 96 Yamaha Virago.. We also love our bikes and take every opportunity to cruise.

In this country we have an organization called "Women On Wheels" and a friend of mine and I started a chapter this summer in our area. It's nice because it helps women riders get together.

I hope you will stop by for a visit. The URL above has links to my Women On Wheels Chapter and you can find pictures of the Shadow plus lots of other stuff. This is a link to my Virago

Don't forget to leave your mark in one of the guestbooks.

Keep the shiny side up,

Lynda

I DON'T RIDE EVERY DAY LIKE I WOULD LIKE TO, SO I MIGHT AS WELL RUN THE TRACK A LITTLE. OR SO I AM THINKING ABOUT IT ANYWAY. GREAT SITE!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Comments: I ride a '97 Black Max, U.S.A. import. I have only made cosmetic modifications as the bike is still in warrantee. It has purple wheels, purple annodised engine bolts and handle bars and now has twin Bates headlights. I have fitted some Rentec engine bars and a Rentec backrest and rack. If you are able to obtain the July issue of RIDE magazine you will find my Max featured.

Comments: I just got a '95 Mr. Max with 3K miles for $6K, the first thing that went on it was a tinted windscreen from National (designed for a square headlight) but hey it fits and the thing cuts so much wind that it was worth the seventy bucks that I paid at Cycle Gear. I was amazed how much of a difference it made on the freeway at 70mph!!! In fact I had looked at several on the internet and I didn't want to pay the $110 for the one from Yamaha (with the wings and the little logo on the front)so I'm just happy this one works well even thought it wasn't made for the bike. I am interested in finding a backrest and luggage rack for my new bike and would love to find one under $400.00 if there is anybody who has one for this bike I want to get one for my wife who says she fells like she's sliding off the back of this thing.

Comments: I dont't drive a Vmax.... Yet. In Denmark a new Vmax cost £15,000.00 (Dkk 170,000.00), and that's a lot of money for a toy. Unfortunately i fell in love in the Vmax for 3 years ago and i just want one. There are not so many Vmax in Denmark to choose from, but for instance a '85 in normal condition cost approx. £10,000.00, so you can see they just never get cheap. Most of the price on a new Vmax is excise tax, approx. 65%. If i import a Vmax, and want to use it on the street (of course i want to), i also have to pay approx. 65% of the street value of the bike in excise tax, that means approx. £6,500.00. That's why, believe it or not, i am looking for an '85 Vmax in bad condition, whitch has driven a lot of miles. The more miles and the worth condition, the lower excise tax i have to pay. Crazy..... i no!!!! After i have payed excise tax, i can start rebuilt the bike (I'm a lorry mechanic). Maybe it's worth also importing a newer Vmax to rebuilt from (if i don't registrate it, i don't have to pay excise tax). So if you know of any old "worn out" Vmax, that looks like a wreck, i'm interested (not all Danes are as stupid as me). If you too know about a newer Vmax, maybe whith a defeckt that makes the price right, i might be interested in that one too. If you can help me, please e-mail me chr.trab@get2net.dk Othervise i would just like to say thank you for a wonderful home page!

Sad to say I do not own one yet, just a 1100 cc yahama virago. The bike is up for sale and as soon as it departs my garage it will be replaced with the 99 Spec V Max. Then I intend to make a few small changes to it but nothing dramatic. I will send some PICs the day after it arrives. Lots of The Irish luck to all you V Maxers out there. Comments: I had always had a chubby for a Vmax ever since I first saw one. Saw the brand new all black '96 at the dealer and had to have it. The only modifications Ive made were to add some of the little Yamaha aftermarket brushed aluminum trim goodies, the "bullet" cowling, and heavyduty aftermarket front end progressive springs. Ol Max goes like a raped ape and has nearly 14,000 miles on him now. I just love blasting down the freeway to Renaissance Faires in full garb including chainmaille and sword. Talk about getting looks! I will NEVER sell that bike!

Comments: Wow, what a machine, passed my M/C test 2 years ago and bought a Honda VFR750, realy wanted a MAX but was concerned about stuffing it, being my first bike and all that. I am now 33 and had never ridden a bike befor the age of 31. The Max has been a machine that I have craved after for the past 2 years and now, at last, I have one. Sold the VFR, almost caused a devorce with the wife, raided the saveings...you know the score... Its a excellent condition 89er, full power from the US in apple red, looks great and goes even better than it looks. Cant see what the problem is with handeling for the type of bike it is, being an old fogie, I dont lean too far anyway! If God rode a motorbike, it would have to be a MAX!!!

Comments: I have been a Vmax owner & lover for 8 years now. The traffic regulations where are come from are sticky. But i have managed to get my power-house boosted up to stage 3 and with all that fun, got caught and lost my lisence. Pretty sore about it. Now i would like to know how i can contribute a little of my experiences plus photos to all Vmax lovers. Photos will include my buddys (10 Vmax's together).

Comments: Yes, I just purchased an '86 model. It has Supertrap exhaust, K & N's and a jet kit. I bought the bike to resale, but I believe I've been smitten. I used to think they were ugly, but after having ridden mine, I now think they're beautiful. Being used to riding Superbikes, I used to think that the Vmax handled terrible. After riding mine for a while ,"WHO CARES?" There's something about this bike that's beyond form or function. I think it's called "Character". I'm really glad to see such a following of the Vmax. I'm sure I'll be looking for parts and advice in the future.

Comments: Im just about to get ridd of my old gpz750 in favour of a faster bike. And im having problems choising between a gsx1100r and a vmax. Almost all my friends drive sportbikes like fzr1000 and ninjas, so my fear is to be left behinde on our roadtripps as soon as the road starts turning, or when we hitt the freeway. They drive realy f*****g fast, and i have heard that the vmax only has a toppspeed of 150mph and handles like a bag of shit. In the who´s first att the redlights and the cool looks department the vmax holds all the cards so what shall i buy? -Can someone please end my sleepless nights?

Comments: Serious question: has anybody run a blower on their street-legal Vmax? Any and all info would be appreciated. I have a blower, I have a Max, but I don't have the balls to run it without a bit of knowledge about its potential outcome. Thanks!

Comments: I own a '93 Max. It's my third one. This one is all white with Shelby stripes. Everything is lowered and it's got lots of parts that are polished or chromed. I love this bike, except that I've broken one mechanical part a year. Broken drive shaft, broken one tooth off second gear and this year I destroyed the rear end. My latest problem is the middle gear is making a racket. Oh well, it's just money and you only live once. As my friend Chuck already mentioned. If your ever in Ottawa, Don't miss the market on the weekends. Hey Chuck, Canada only has three A's, eh! VMOA Member #425

I currently have a lowrider that gives me the $%^@* so Im changing back to jappas cant quit decide between a yammy xjr 1200 or the 1200 bandit or the big max so any feed back will be appreciated. as it is hard to find demo bikes aroundto take for a thrash.

Would like to someday Trike the Venture, and try a V-boost system on the 1200, or even swap over to the Max motor completely. The power of the Max in a Venture Trike would be awesome. I visit your site often. Looks really great. Thomas

Tengo algunos amigos que también tienen vmax que me podrían ayudar . os felicito por este magnifico web de vmax autentica biblia y os saludo desde santander ( spain ) .

Comments: I HAV A YELLOW 94 MAX. THIS HAS GONE THREW MANY CHANGES THREW THE YEARS. I STARTED SLOW BUT THE VMAX FLU GOT WORSE THE LONGER I OWN HER. STARTING WITH JUST YOUR TIPACAL DRAG BARS AND MOTOR GARDS. EVERY ONE THAT KNOWS ME THIS WOULD NEVER BE ENUF. THIS THING I CALL THE VMAX FLU CAME WITH A HIGH TEMPTURE FOR SPEED. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS CURED BY ADDING ON A NOS SYSTEM, JETING, AND A 4 INTO 1 KERKER PIPE. BUT SENCE I WILL ALWAS HAVE THE FLU MY BALANCE WAS EFECTHED, SO I LOWERED THE FRUNT END AN ADDED A STABLIZER. THE LOWERING WAS DONE BY USING CLIP ON BARS. BY THE WAY I MUST MENTION THAT MY EYES WERE ALSO EFECTED. THEY SEEMED TO THINK THING WERE TO LARGE AND NOT SLEEK. SO I CONSLTED MY DOC. "DOCTOR GUMBY HEINTZ" HE HAD THE CURE WE STARTE BY REMOVEING THE BRAKE AND TURN LIGHTS. HIS TRICK WAS TO TUCK THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT INTO THE FENDER "DAM WHAT A PHD IN STYLE WILL DO." THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THREE CURES I WAS GIVEN. NEXT HE TOOK THE FRUNT TURNING LIGHTS AND INSTALED THEM BEHIND THE SCOOP GRILLS. LAST CURE WAS THE SLEEK CUSTUM TURNED MOUNTS FOR THE MINI REAR TURN SIGNALES. WITH THESE LIGHTING MODS COME A DALE WALKER CHIN SCOOP AND BRAKE RESOVOR COVERS. THEY WERE PANTED TO MATCH FENDERS. THE BRAKE BOXES AND THE SPEDOMEATER WAS ALSO PANTIED TO MACH. OPPS I ALMOST FORGOT THAT SORE REAR END THAT WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THA VMAX FLU. KNOWING THAT A PROCTOLGEST COULDNT HELP, "JOHN FUBUR" WAS CALLED IN TO HELP. WITH THE MASSIVE KNOWLAGE THAT JOHN HAS ON THE MAX. HE CAME UP WITH THE SLEEK AND SOFT SPORT MAX SEAT " DAM HE IS GOOD." WITH ALL THE BS ASIDE I HOPE THIS WILL CONTROLE MY VMAX FLU BY THE WAY IF YOU LIVE ANY WHER I AND SOME VMAX FRIENDS WILL BE TRAVLING TO COLORADO IN JULY AND WOULD BE WILLING TO STOP BY OR HAVE YOU RIDE A FEW MIELES WITH US

Comments: Great Site.
I'm on my second max now. I got a 97' bought it new in may. I've hated the color ever since I saw it. I am a chrome and polish nut. If it don't shine it aint mine! So I first bought all available yamaha access then I ordered cobra blvd slip on pipes. Boy they are nice and sound great. Next I added a carb kit. Then I decided the black wheels had to go plus the black front shockes. All that is highly polished now. Looks like chrome. Then it was time to get rid of that dull silver color. We added a tri coat ford red red ppg paint with the new 7 colors metal flake. Painted the bottom have of the side covers an the bottom have of the scoops plus painted the yamaha in the scoops. What a different bike. I have pictures and would like to know how to get them on your site. Please advise. Next will be powder coating the brake calip. What a summer it will be.
Ken.

Tu as le meilleur site du web, j'ai trouve ici plus d'informations en une nuit qu'en un an. Du hast der beste site aus dem Welt, hier habe ich mehr informationen in eine Nachte als in eine Jahre gefunden. I have a V-max'92 since 3 years and I'm 22. I like to 'improve' it even if my budget is low. If only prices in France were not so high! I'm often looking for used parts, but it's hard to find when like me you don't know anyone. I like to ride in group, but I'm sometimes fed up with riding with super-sport bikers (I had a CBR900R before). I really believe that my V-max has got a soul. If not, at least she has a spirit, and you proved it.

Also owns a not "finished project" Honda CBX-6 1047 -78 one of the first "Hot bikes". Nice sound over 6000 rpms!! Both bikes have very powerful motors and no handling !! Thats what real bikers want?

Comments: I have a dead stock 1988 and it runs just fine for me. Last year I had to replace all of the carb diaphragms and I had to re-wire the boost sensor because the factory mis-wired it. My last name is of course German but "Ich bin stolz ein Gottscheer zu sein" auf Slovenia (Yugoslavia). I really don't speak or read German (just a little) but I wanted you to know I am not a spoiler or destroyer. I also have 2 Honda CBX's, one 1979 and one 1982. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine on the '79 ( lots of $ for parts). I found your page from a link on the "VMOA" page. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures and info. CARL

Comments: Yes, at this point I have no modifications, other than the suspect repairs done on my bike after the first fall (4500km). I need some help in sourcing a supplier of parts (forks, stantions(sp?), etc..bad right hand side damage) to south africa. My dealer is a "grey import" disaster and the time I have waited has turned from frustration to anger to .... dare I say it .... hoplessness. I don't know if this is the correct forum for a request of this sort, however having seen your site you can be assured that I will be a regular subscriber. Hope el-nino gives you guys up north a break for beater riding weather!!! CYL Andre (joubert@hixnet.co.za)

Comments: I am 26 years old. I have been riding cycles since I was 16. I got my motorcycle license before my car license, and have had a couple of years between then and now during which I had no car, just a bike. I have lusted over the Vmax since I first saw one in 1988. I love the lines, the styling, and the POWER. In my mind, it is the ultimate motorcycle. Now that I am making pretty good money, I plan to find a used one to call my own.

Comments: Really enjoyed reading the details, great work of computer art Ingo. While I have been in Japan, the last 2 1/2 years I have been riding a Honda Transalp 400, because it was hard for me to get an over 400cc licence when I arrived. The last trip we (the Honda and I) made was from Osaka to Sendai (Sugo raceway) to watch John Kocinski win the World Superbike title for 97. Now it is time to leave Japan, and head on back to the US (we were there from 91 to 94) and the question was what to do with the Transalp? After looking at many bikes (they're fairly cheap here in Japan) I decided th
