IT HAS A KERKER PIPE AND A REMOVABLE WINDSCREEN. IN THE FUTURE I WOULD LIKE TO ADD A STEERING DAMPER, OTHER THAN THAT I CAN THINK OF NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS I WOULD CARE TO MAKE. MY GOOD FRIEND JOHN,WHO IS A FELLOW MAX OWNER(85),IS CURRENTLY PLANNING A 3-WHEELED MAX. THIS IS TO BE A TRIKE AND NOT A SIDE CAR. DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO OWNS ONE? THANKS

Comments: 1986 Vmax (and a 1998 ZX6R Ninja) almost all stock. I have Cobra pipes but can't use them because they are too noisy and set off all the car alarms in my office car park. Anybody want info on the Philippines or Hong Kong (I lived in HK for 23 years) let me know. Anyone know of some hard paniers and top box to fit a Vmax? Regards to all bikers. Frank

Comments: I drive an '85 V-Max. It is painted '95 Corvette blue with custom polishing and paint on the scoops. I have added a Dynojet stage 7 kit with the tubes, Megacycle .375 cams, ported and polished heads,Dale Walker 4-1 exhaust, and a new clutch with dual stock springs. I have also opened up the air scoops to help feed cool air. I have also removed anything I could to reduce weight, with out affecting the appearance of the bike. I love the bike and this combination of parts works awesome with no hesitations or bogs from idle to 10500 rpm's. Thanks for a Maxxedout web site.

Your a lucky man, Ingo,

Beautiful wife and children, and friends that would actually start a fund to get you a motorcycle. You are truly a rich man.

My husband and I are motorcycle enthusiasts. No V-Maxes but we we stay on two wheels. His is a 96 Shadow ACE and mine is a 96 Yamaha Virago.. We also love our bikes and take every opportunity to cruise.

In this country we have an organization called "Women On Wheels" and a friend of mine and I started a chapter this summer in our area. It's nice because it helps women riders get together.

I hope you will stop by for a visit. The URL above has links to my Women On Wheels Chapter and you can find pictures of the Shadow plus lots of other stuff. This is a link to my Virago

Don't forget to leave your mark in one of the guestbooks.

Keep the shiny side up,

Lynda

I DON'T RIDE EVERY DAY LIKE I WOULD LIKE TO, SO I MIGHT AS WELL RUN THE TRACK A LITTLE. OR SO I AM THINKING ABOUT IT ANYWAY. GREAT SITE!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Comments: I ride a '97 Black Max, U.S.A. import. I have only made cosmetic modifications as the bike is still in warrantee. It has purple wheels, purple annodised engine bolts and handle bars and now has twin Bates headlights. I have fitted some Rentec engine bars and a Rentec backrest and rack. If you are able to obtain the July issue of RIDE magazine you will find my Max featured.

Comments: I just got a '95 Mr. Max with 3K miles for $6K, the first thing that went on it was a tinted windscreen from National (designed for a square headlight) but hey it fits and the thing cuts so much wind that it was worth the seventy bucks that I paid at Cycle Gear. I was amazed how much of a difference it made on the freeway at 70mph!!! In fact I had looked at several on the internet and I didn't want to pay the $110 for the one from Yamaha (with the wings and the little logo on the front)so I'm just happy this one works well even thought it wasn't made for the bike. I am interested in finding a backrest and luggage rack for my new bike and would love to find one under $400.00 if there is anybody who has one for this bike I want to get one for my wife who says she fells like she's sliding off the back of this thing.

Comments: I dont't drive a Vmax.... Yet. In Denmark a new Vmax cost £15,000.00 (Dkk 170,000.00), and that's a lot of money for a toy. Unfortunately i fell in love in the Vmax for 3 years ago and i just want one. There are not so many Vmax in Denmark to choose from, but for instance a '85 in normal condition cost approx. £10,000.00, so you can see they just never get cheap. Most of the price on a new Vmax is excise tax, approx. 65%. If i import a Vmax, and want to use it on the street (of course i want to), i also have to pay approx. 65% of the street value of the bike in excise tax, that means approx. £6,500.00. That's why, believe it or not, i am looking for an '85 Vmax in bad condition, whitch has driven a lot of miles. The more miles and the worth condition, the lower excise tax i have to pay. Crazy..... i no!!!! After i have payed excise tax, i can start rebuilt the bike (I'm a lorry mechanic). Maybe it's worth also importing a newer Vmax to rebuilt from (if i don't registrate it, i don't have to pay excise tax). So if you know of any old "worn out" Vmax, that looks like a wreck, i'm interested (not all Danes are as stupid as me). If you too know about a newer Vmax, maybe whith a defeckt that makes the price right, i might be interested in that one too. If you can help me, please e-mail me chr.trab@get2net.dk Othervise i would just like to say thank you for a wonderful home page!

Sad to say I do not own one yet, just a 1100 cc yahama virago. The bike is up for sale and as soon as it departs my garage it will be replaced with the 99 Spec V Max. Then I intend to make a few small changes to it but nothing dramatic. I will send some PICs the day after it arrives. Lots of The Irish luck to all you V Maxers out there. Comments: I had always had a chubby for a Vmax ever since I first saw one. Saw the brand new all black '96 at the dealer and had to have it. The only modifications Ive made were to add some of the little Yamaha aftermarket brushed aluminum trim goodies, the "bullet" cowling, and heavyduty aftermarket front end progressive springs. Ol Max goes like a raped ape and has nearly 14,000 miles on him now. I just love blasting down the freeway to Renaissance Faires in full garb including chainmaille and sword. Talk about getting looks! I will NEVER sell that bike!

Comments: Wow, what a machine, passed my M/C test 2 years ago and bought a Honda VFR750, realy wanted a MAX but was concerned about stuffing it, being my first bike and all that. I am now 33 and had never ridden a bike befor the age of 31. The Max has been a machine that I have craved after for the past 2 years and now, at last, I have one. Sold the VFR, almost caused a devorce with the wife, raided the saveings...you know the score... Its a excellent condition 89er, full power from the US in apple red, looks great and goes even better than it looks. Cant see what the problem is with handeling for the type of bike it is, being an old fogie, I dont lean too far anyway! If God rode a motorbike, it would have to be a MAX!!!

Comments: I have been a Vmax owner & lover for 8 years now. The traffic regulations where are come from are sticky. But i have managed to get my power-house boosted up to stage 3 and with all that fun, got caught and lost my lisence. Pretty sore about it. Now i would like to know how i can contribute a little of my experiences plus photos to all Vmax lovers. Photos will include my buddys (10 Vmax's together).

Comments: Yes, I just purchased an '86 model. It has Supertrap exhaust, K & N's and a jet kit. I bought the bike to resale, but I believe I've been smitten. I used to think they were ugly, but after having ridden mine, I now think they're beautiful. Being used to riding Superbikes, I used to think that the Vmax handled terrible. After riding mine for a while ,"WHO CARES?" There's something about this bike that's beyond form or function. I think it's called "Character". I'm really glad to see such a following of the Vmax. I'm sure I'll be looking for parts and advice in the future.

Comments: Im just about to get ridd of my old gpz750 in favour of a faster bike. And im having problems choising between a gsx1100r and a vmax. Almost all my friends drive sportbikes like fzr1000 and ninjas, so my fear is to be left behinde on our roadtripps as soon as the road starts turning, or when we hitt the freeway. They drive realy f*****g fast, and i have heard that the vmax only has a toppspeed of 150mph and handles like a bag of shit. In the who´s first att the redlights and the cool looks department the vmax holds all the cards so what shall i buy? -Can someone please end my sleepless nights?

Comments: Serious question: has anybody run a blower on their street-legal Vmax? Any and all info would be appreciated. I have a blower, I have a Max, but I don't have the balls to run it without a bit of knowledge about its potential outcome. Thanks!

Comments: I own a '93 Max. It's my third one. This one is all white with Shelby stripes. Everything is lowered and it's got lots of parts that are polished or chromed. I love this bike, except that I've broken one mechanical part a year. Broken drive shaft, broken one tooth off second gear and this year I destroyed the rear end. My latest problem is the middle gear is making a racket. Oh well, it's just money and you only live once. As my friend Chuck already mentioned. If your ever in Ottawa, Don't miss the market on the weekends. Hey Chuck, Canada only has three A's, eh! VMOA Member #425

I currently have a lowrider that gives me the $%^@* so Im changing back to jappas cant quit decide between a yammy xjr 1200 or the 1200 bandit or the big max so any feed back will be appreciated. as it is hard to find demo bikes aroundto take for a thrash.

Would like to someday Trike the Venture, and try a V-boost system on the 1200, or even swap over to the Max motor completely. The power of the Max in a Venture Trike would be awesome. I visit your site often. Looks really great. Thomas

Tengo algunos amigos que también tienen vmax que me podrían ayudar . os felicito por este magnifico web de vmax autentica biblia y os saludo desde santander ( spain ) .

Comments: I HAV A YELLOW 94 MAX. THIS HAS GONE THREW MANY CHANGES THREW THE YEARS. I STARTED SLOW BUT THE VMAX FLU GOT WORSE THE LONGER I OWN HER. STARTING WITH JUST YOUR TIPACAL DRAG BARS AND MOTOR GARDS. EVERY ONE THAT KNOWS ME THIS WOULD NEVER BE ENUF. THIS THING I CALL THE VMAX FLU CAME WITH A HIGH TEMPTURE FOR SPEED. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS CURED BY ADDING ON A NOS SYSTEM, JETING, AND A 4 INTO 1 KERKER PIPE. BUT SENCE I WILL ALWAS HAVE THE FLU MY BALANCE WAS EFECTHED, SO I LOWERED THE FRUNT END AN ADDED A STABLIZER. THE LOWERING WAS DONE BY USING CLIP ON BARS. BY THE WAY I MUST MENTION THAT MY EYES WERE ALSO EFECTED. THEY SEEMED TO THINK THING WERE TO LARGE AND NOT SLEEK. SO I CONSLTED MY DOC. "DOCTOR GUMBY HEINTZ" HE HAD THE CURE WE STARTE BY REMOVEING THE BRAKE AND TURN LIGHTS. HIS TRICK WAS TO TUCK THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT INTO THE FENDER "DAM WHAT A PHD IN STYLE WILL DO." THIS IS ONLY ONE OF THREE CURES I WAS GIVEN. NEXT HE TOOK THE FRUNT TURNING LIGHTS AND INSTALED THEM BEHIND THE SCOOP GRILLS. LAST CURE WAS THE SLEEK CUSTUM TURNED MOUNTS FOR THE MINI REAR TURN SIGNALES. WITH THESE LIGHTING MODS COME A DALE WALKER CHIN SCOOP AND BRAKE RESOVOR COVERS. THEY WERE PANTED TO MATCH FENDERS. THE BRAKE BOXES AND THE SPEDOMEATER WAS ALSO PANTIED TO MACH. OPPS I ALMOST FORGOT THAT SORE REAR END THAT WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THA VMAX FLU. KNOWING THAT A PROCTOLGEST COULDNT HELP, "JOHN FUBUR" WAS CALLED IN TO HELP. WITH THE MASSIVE KNOWLAGE THAT JOHN HAS ON THE MAX. HE CAME UP WITH THE SLEEK AND SOFT SPORT MAX SEAT " DAM HE IS GOOD." WITH ALL THE BS ASIDE I HOPE THIS WILL CONTROLE MY VMAX FLU BY THE WAY IF YOU LIVE ANY WHER I AND SOME VMAX FRIENDS WILL BE TRAVLING TO COLORADO IN JULY AND WOULD BE WILLING TO STOP BY OR HAVE YOU RIDE A FEW MIELES WITH US

Comments: Great Site.
I'm on my second max now. I got a 97' bought it new in may. I've hated the color ever since I saw it. I am a chrome and polish nut. If it don't shine it aint mine! So I first bought all available yamaha access then I ordered cobra blvd slip on pipes. Boy they are nice and sound great. Next I added a carb kit. Then I decided the black wheels had to go plus the black front shockes. All that is highly polished now. Looks like chrome. Then it was time to get rid of that dull silver color. We added a tri coat ford red red ppg paint with the new 7 colors metal flake. Painted the bottom have of the side covers an the bottom have of the scoops plus painted the yamaha in the scoops. What a different bike. I have pictures and would like to know how to get them on your site. Please advise. Next will be powder coating the brake calip. What a summer it will be.
Ken.

Tu as le meilleur site du web, j'ai trouve ici plus d'informations en une nuit qu'en un an. Du hast der beste site aus dem Welt, hier habe ich mehr informationen in eine Nachte als in eine Jahre gefunden. I have a V-max'92 since 3 years and I'm 22. I like to 'improve' it even if my budget is low. If only prices in France were not so high! I'm often looking for used parts, but it's hard to find when like me you don't know anyone. I like to ride in group, but I'm sometimes fed up with riding with super-sport bikers (I had a CBR900R before). I really believe that my V-max has got a soul. If not, at least she has a spirit, and you proved it.

Also owns a not "finished project" Honda CBX-6 1047 -78 one of the first "Hot bikes". Nice sound over 6000 rpms!! Both bikes have very powerful motors and no handling !! Thats what real bikers want?

Comments: I have a dead stock 1988 and it runs just fine for me. Last year I had to replace all of the carb diaphragms and I had to re-wire the boost sensor because the factory mis-wired it. My last name is of course German but "Ich bin stolz ein Gottscheer zu sein" auf Slovenia (Yugoslavia). I really don't speak or read German (just a little) but I wanted you to know I am not a spoiler or destroyer. I also have 2 Honda CBX's, one 1979 and one 1982. I am in the process of rebuilding the engine on the '79 ( lots of $ for parts). I found your page from a link on the "VMOA" page. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures and info. CARL

I need some help in sourcing a supplier of parts (forks, stantions(sp?), etc..bad right hand side damage) to south africa. I got my motorcycle license before my car license, and have had a couple of years between then and now during which I had no car, just a bike. I have lusted over the Vmax since I first saw one in 1988. I love the lines, the styling, and the POWER. In my mind, it is the ultimate motorcycle. Now that I am making pretty good money, I plan to find a used one to call my own.

Comments: Really enjoyed reading the details, great work of computer art Ingo. While I have been in Japan, the last 2 1/2 years I have been riding a Honda Transalp 400, because it was hard for me to get an over 400cc licence when I arrived. The last trip we (the Honda and I) made was from Osaka to Sendai (Sugo raceway) to watch John Kocinski win the World Superbike title for 97. Now it is time to leave Japan, and head on back to the US (we were there from 91 to 94) and the question was what to do with the Transalp? After looking at many bikes (they're fairly cheap here in Japan) I decided the best buy would be a '98 Yamaha V-Max, which will be delivered on November 8, 1998 ready to put in the container with our personal items. I can't wait to get the V-Max on the road in Texas, I hope it lives up to the reputation I have been reading on this web site. One of the first things I want to do in the US, is join the VMOA. I miss club activities here in Japan. I don't think I will modify the V-Max until I know exactly what is on the market. But I would like to add my own personal touch to it in some way or another. The V-Max will make a nice present, it will be my 50th birthday in January. Drop me an e-mail if you have time: day@gol.com

Comments: I have just purchased a new 1997 V-MAX in the US, and I am just waiting to get it in a couple of weeks. With the "fever" to ride the bike I just started looking for Vmaxes in the web and hit your page, which I believe is one of the best dedicated websites to anything. I used to ride a 1987 Yamaha DOHC 750 Triple, and never had any complain about it. I ocassinally ride a Virago 750 and a Magna 750 also, but once I started reading about the V-max, I was immediately hooked on it, as this bike has all the special characteristics a rider would like on his motorcycle, so I (after a hard campaign with my wife) decided to buy one and found what we call a "cold" (last-year-new) bike in Florida and right now it is waiting at our Freight Forwarder's warehouse waiting to be shipped to VENEZUELA in a couple of weeks. We operate two Companies which fly helicopters and light aircraft, and I have a Casio digital camera, so once I receive the machine I will provide some pictures, as you have only a few people located in South America, so I will contribute to this outstanding site of yours. Please receive my best Regards, Remy Paternoster/GENERAL MANAGER/LLOYD AVIATION

I have fitted a sissy bar with carrier, this was to give a bit more confidence to my fiance`, and to stop her pulling the flesh off of my hips on hard acceleration. I puchased the bike with a straight through exhaust.I am not too sure if it was custom made or not.(twin pipes each side).Any suggestions?.It is a good looking exhaust but too noisy for me.I will be fitting standard pipes soon, any offers for the old one? I am extreemly pleased with my V Max.Loads of fun.

SUPER Ich werde Dir mal ein paar Bilder von Umbauten zukommen lassen, wenn ich sie eingescannt habe. Mach weiter so.

Comments: Hello, My 93 V-max is not very special(except to me). It has Cobra slash cut pipes. I was going for looks at the time. I Also like there sound. I have the Dale walker V-boost kit. It opens the boost by hitting a switch. The Dyno runs claim it Hurt my mid range hp. But the low end tork and hp where increased quite a bit. You can feel the difference. The throttle response is night and day to stock. I just today modified to a Multi spring clutch conversion. I don't have an opinion on it yet. I also put Barnett clutch plates in. The kit is also from Barnett. I guess I should buy a sport bike at this point. My new pipes are so scrapped at this point that I might buty new pipes again this year. Nobody wants to ride with me either. There tired of losing to me. Plus most people say you need welding goggles to follow me. I love my bike. I love when some squid pulls up next to me on a sport bike thinking I'm a cruising bike. They look over at me like I'm some old man. then I smoke em off the line and they try to catch me for another try at the old man. Or I do the first and secound gear wheely to the next light. If you've never seen a V-max before it will be surprising...... Riser XX

Comments:Yes, A 1986 dark blue with a moderate amount of chrome. Engine and chassis modifications: Stage 7 carb kit, Barnett clutches, SR-2 clutch kit, Progressive Suspension springs and shocks which lowers MAX an inch and a half. Other modifica- tions include a speedometer fairing, case savers, and a padded backrest to round off the picture. I feel the V-max is one of the best bikes out there, as this is my second with 50,000+ miles that I've logged.

I would enjoy chatting with other V-Max owners.

Now to my problems. I have installed a Dyno Jek kit stage 1 and after had test it in a service bench I still looking for about 10 horsepower. Do you think that V-Max from Canada is not delivered full effects defiance the v-boster ? If my theory is right are there any better Dyno Jet Kit to buy so I can get all horsepower ? Are there any thing else I can do, for example modify the carburator ? Please, if you had answer to my qustions write me a letter to: ragne.gustafson@mailbox.calyspo.net

I am looking for some feedback from some individuals who have put on an aftermarket exhaust systems. Along with any other mods that will satisfy my need for speed. In the immediate future I am looking to put a set of braided stainless brake lines on my Max. Only downtime so far has been a snapped drive shaft around 21,000 miles. I ride with friends on an F2 and a 92 GSX-750 all around the Bay area. Drop me a note, maybe we can hook-up and ride. I know the secret lies in the v-boost system and that there are two choices: either you get a bike directly from the States or you have the system fitted at a specialized dealer. As far as I remember, it would sum up to 800,00 back in 1993. For the time being I'll settle with the 100 bhp. No changes. I've had it for 9 months. Before that I had a Virago 250 which I sold after 33,000 Km. I once did a european tour on it for 3 weeks (5,000 Km). The thing I like about the Vmax the most is its character, the sense of exclusivity it indulges one in, and of course beating everyone at the traffic lights. That's all for now.

Congratulations on your home page. it was most helpful.

Bye.

A very good friend of mine went out and got a ZX11 and thought he would be top dog around here, but after he lost several races in the quarter mile to the V Max he found out he should have picked up a V Max!

Comments: I do drive a Vmax. He's from 1986, and i bought him on 02-06-1993. I replaced the exhaust pipes for a pair of Lazer Pro Stock's During the summertime there's a sissybar mounted on. Because during the summer my girlfriend and i drive a lot true Holland together. But after the summer i remove the sissybar, because it's not a very pretty sight. I drive my Max all day's of the year, no matter what kind of weather it is. I don't even own a car, my girlfriend own's a Nissan Micra but i only drive it when i have to go shopping. I'll scan a picture of my Max, and send it to you if you want?? I would like to know if there is a site of the Dutch Vmax Club. If you know if there is such a site, would you please send me the url? Furthermore i would like to tell you that this is a great site, and i hope you'll grow bigger.

I got you on my bookmarks.

I live in Nord Italy. Sorry for my bad english !! The purpose of this e.mail, is to get some technical iformations concerning the YAMAHA V MAX. I have to state beforehand, that I own a black V MAX (1996), delivered in Europe with 100 HP. So, I woulde like to know what's the technical difference between the italian engine, with 100 HP, and the original engine with 145 Hp. And besides, I woulde like to know if it's possible to take back to original power of 145 HP. And hows ? Who is able to answer my questions ?? Many thanks !!!

I have polished all the aluminum and repainted the engine. The engine is stock. I fear modifing it because it runs so good.

I salute all V-MAX riders throughout the world, show all the others what a real motorcycle is like.

Comments: Greetings to all you V-maxists out there, I own a '95 Canadian model V-MAX which cost me R70000 (App.15500 US Dollars). Since then it has been fitted with stage VII Dynajet kit, Kerker header fitted with carbon fibre cannister, loads and loads of chromed and polished parts, seat reshaped and recovered (to lower seating position), custom rear taillight assembly (Reflector at rear of seat converted to additional brake light)with small personalised number plate, billet mirrors, shorter handlebars and topped off with a custom purple/pink spray job. Fantastic weather and long open roads in South Africa provide a bikers paradise. I ran the MAX on the strip (Yes we do have drag strips in S.A.) but had difficulty with traction and now I'm looking for a 17" or 18" wheel to enable fitment of better (Z-rated) rubber. Currently only a limited number of V-MAXES privately imported to our country but Yamaha S.A. will be making them available as from 1997. The "MAX" remains a wet dream on wheels - 'till later - Deon "Mother" Hauptfleisch.

Comments: I have an '88 US import red Vmax with a stage 7 kit. It's better than sex, drugs and rock and roll. My only excuse for not riding it recently was the fact that I was in hospital after trying out the v-boost into the back of a car. Luckily I was fully insured and the hip is now in-place (but not perfect) and my baby is back on the road and thanks to Larry and the boys at PDQ, it's faster than ever - I had the exhaust changed to a Lazer "Pro-stock". If there is anyone out there who has always wanted a V-max but hasn't got one then just go out and buy one - You will wonder why you didn't do it before!

So in the meantime, I am busy sourcing out accessories, reading materials, etc. for the unit. I've even managed to get my hands on Cycle World's and Motor Cyclist's original 1985 reviews of the bike. I remembered reading about Max back then, "..But let the corners of your mouth curl up in a malicious grin, let your throttle hand rotate back and let yourself in for the ride of your life..." That was the point that I decided I HAD to have one. Well finally,12 years later......

I keep seing all these people talking about 89' 90' 93' etc v-max's having only 2, 3 or 5000 miles on them. Just want to say to everyone : RIDE YOUR V-MAX's !!!! RIDE THEM TO DEATH. !!! This machine is not for display or to be kept in a garage. Nothing happens to a V-max when mother nature rains on it. It craves to be riden. They are built to run the miles. What is the purpose of owning the best machine in the world if you're going to ride it every other blue moon People should either be real V-max owners or don't brag about the machine and all the extras. That's not what makes the bike. Man do I get frustruated when I see this thing...

Comments: I drive a V-MAX 1989; I have some Yamaha accessories such as the instrument cowl, engine guard, sissy bar, and the Corbin seat that I do not find more comfortable than the stock one. I'll have to overhaul the carburators as the bike has developed an annoying "rough idle"; at high "revs" the engine works just fine. Sometimes I wonder whether the V-MAX is capable of delivering the same performance regardless the condition....of one of its carburetors. Its engine is so strong that, after so many years of riding it, it still (many times) scares me. The V-MAX is beautiful, powerful, and sexy..! Yes!! sexy too and I love it with....all my "guts".

To help fill out your color chart, the '89 is dark red w/ black scoops. Think I might drive up to Loudon NH this weekend to terrorize some Harley riders who have gathered for bike week. They expect 200,000 bikers to attend bike week this year. The event is centered around the annual Loudon Camel Classic races. See if I can get a few " hey Mad Max.... bake 'em up!! " from the crowd.

Comments: Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. has announced that it will move forward the release of its 1997 V-Max motorcycle due to the early sell-out of last year's model. The '97 V-Max, sporting a new platinum-silver color scheme, will be at Yamaha dealerships nationwide in mid to late June. "We are seeing a trend of renewed interest in hot-rod type vehicles," said Bob Starr, National Communications Manager at Yamaha. "The V-Max represents the spirit of the hot-rod in today's motorcycle."

TheV-Max, heralded as the "ultimate male fantasy," will continue largely unchanged for the '97 model year, utilizing the same liquid-cooled, 16-valve DOHC, 1198cc, V-4 powerplant that has been its trademark for years.

It was a dream of mine since I first ever saw it in some island in Greece back in 1988. In Greece I used to ride dual sports XT 600 and XR's but this one just stole my heart. I just created my homepage a litle while ago and before I bought the bike. I have taken some of the pictures of the Net. Mine is the All Black one after you ckick on UMA. My homepage will grow soon and I will add pictures of my own machine soon when work eases up a litle. I will put a link to your homepage. If you want you can add mine on yours. The only thing is that I use frames. If you have any suggestions let me know. Take care

Hi again,

The V-max is coming on. The polishing is finished, the chroming is nearly ready, the paintwork (yellow) will be done this weekend, the seat is being recovered and should be back next week, the NOS bottle has been painted to look like a can of "HEINZ" baked beans, and last but not leased the engine is now a 1263 Cosworth babe. Roll on those sunny Sundays. I will send a photo when shes done. I see "H" Doyle is now famous on your home page, he will be pleased. Later,

Yes I ride a 1988 Canadian spec Vmax, fitted with lazer prostock silencers and a K&N air filter. I imported this bike to the UK myself and it is a full power model. I own a motorcycle riding school and I sometimes use the max to follow Learner riders on lessons as the max is a big pussycat at low speeds. I am the political liason officer for the UK Vmax Club.

Comments: I live in Singapore and am thinking of buying a Vmax so I am not an owner yet. I am in the process of learning about the bike and finding out what the best deal here in Singapore is. As for modifications, I see a lot of owners fitting gas dampers on the rear suspension. They sure look good but do they achieve anything? The other mod seems to be competition silencers - very expensive here - and these seem to improve the sound of the exhaust and raise the fuel comsumption but, again, is there some performance increase? I've yet to find all this out. There also seems to be at least two types of Vmax available; the restricted type and the full-power or so I was told by one dealer. One has to be careful one is sold the wrong one! As a would be Vmax owner, I guess I have a lot to learn. I would value any advice you would care to give me.

Comments: I have a '91 full power USA import running 185 BHP on NOS. "She" has a stage 7 dyno kit through individual K+N filters. A Hindle carbon exhaust can lets the world know I'm coming. I am presently having the engine reworked with a Cosworth big bore 1275cc kit and kevlar clutch. I have had a new petrol tank made to sit where the old cover sits (looks great) and holds another two gallons. The bike will be yellow this time round (normally black) all the engine is being polished rather than black. Other trick bits include a "tiny" No plate on a short rear mud guard with twin hidden rear lights. Stopping is done by two front six pot and a rear four pot caliper made in the UK. Rear shocks are specials. Small indicators are still on the bike although I dont have any mirrors any more. The wheels are being polished, as are the forks, air scoops, grab rail and other assorted bits. I have had the seat recovered in black with yellow edgeing to match the tank and mudguards.

Watch out England, I'm on the road soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year 7th Vmax owners meetimg is going to be held on October 6 , by only our club planning. The place is Rindou Lake in Nasu

I do not speak English very well. And I can not use my computer(IBM Aptiva)very well. I began the internet this year. I am sorry. There is a Vmax customer(tuner) in our club . His name is ESPER Komiya. He has a custom shop. His Vmax has a turbo and a super charger. The horsepower is 230ps. He has a Vmax maximum speed record, 256km/h. And he make many Vmax parts(back step, seat, exhaust 4 pipes, up down fork, turbo kit, etc.
